Boutin Jones is looking for a Labor and Employment Paralegal, with five (5) or more years of employment law and litigation experience, to join its dynamic Employment Law practice. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and passion for employment law.

  • $85,000 – 100,000 per year, depending on experience

Schedule
  • Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
  • This position is 100% in office

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of litigation case management, including file management, discovery, trial activities, and maintenance of all case-related materials.
  • Perform wide variety of legal research and data compilation using IT, library resources available, commercial databases and on-line databases including the internet.
  • Proofreading of briefs and other legal documents.
  • Perform all e-discovery tasks.
  • Assist in pleading and discovery processes including drafting documents, research for service of process, ensuring proper and timely completion of services, drafting notices and subpoenas, preparing for deposition, propounding and responding to written discovery, preparing for expert discovery, drafting discovery motions, drafting witness and attorney declarations.
  • Assist with law and motion practice process including drafting motion papers, assembling motion papers and exhibits, assisting with filings of pleadings and briefs and ensuring proper service.
  • Assist the employment advice team with drafting and preparing various agreements and policy documents.
  • Assist with mediation and trial preparation.
  • Attend and assist, as needed, during meetings, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, trials, and communicate with client, opposing counsel, court staff and outside vendors.
  • Attend and assist with administrative proceedings, trial, hearings, depositions or mediations, as requested.
  • Leads support staff efforts in order to meet all team deadlines and expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program.
  • Five (5) or more years of employment litigation experience.
  • Comply with California Business and Professions Code Sections 6450-6456.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • High degree of knowledge and familiarity with federal and state labor and employment laws including but not limited to wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment and retaliation, workplace safety, wage and hour disputes, and labor codes.
  • High degree of familiarity with litigation deadlines and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to superior client service.
